FS9 CTD!

Post by Tomliner »

May be coincidence but since installing the Captainsim 757 today plus the service pack and tutorial both from the Just Flight website,FS9 crashes to desktop on launch. It seemed ok after installation and having printed out some of the documentation,I closed the pc down.Next time I tried to use FS9 the ctd problem appears. For what it's worthI visually checked the FS9 disc 4 and there sem to be a couple of hairline cracks on the outer edge but they may have been there for some time.
I have emailed JF's support service and will await their reply. In the meantime any help would be appreciated! *-) EricT

Hi Mate,

just a quick note that it might be worth renaming you FS9.cfg file to FS9.old and letting the sim build a new one. This often sorts strange problems. You will need to re setup you display setting etc, but definately worth doing :)

Eric,
there is a No CD crack. Saves the wear and tear on the CD.

Thanks guys.Ben,can you remind me where to find the FS9.cfg file?Cheers EricT
ps I found it.Should have used 'search' before asking.Incidently I note on JF support site that there is a fix for fs9 ctd when the PSS 777 is installed.I don't have the 777 but I do have the PSS Vulcan.Might wait for a reply from JF before trying that fix.

Same with mine when I installed Wilco's A320.
Maybe your FS9 is just like mine - it simply doesn't like glass cockpits!!

Thanks folks.I did find the path Garry after I posted the reply to Ben.Nick,I don't think the glass cockpit is the issue because the LevelD 767 and PMDG737 ran ok.In addition I used to have the PSS A330.340 installed and they ran ok.
JF,first suggestion is to uninstall the 757.ot sure whether to do that first or rename the .cfg file.EricT

Update.I removed the 757 but FS9 still CTDs.It may be pure coincidence but I am wondering about the two cracks, each about 5mm long on the opposite edges of disc 4.Airboatr posted a link to obtain a no cd crack file but that site requires a monthly subscription which I don't fancy.I know that this file has been mentioned here before.Does anyone have a copy? I think that is the next thing to try.Cheers EricT *-)
