Chipmunk on floats
I have just been reading where there was a chipmunk placed on floats. Apparently it never flew with the floats and got converted back to the landing gear.
Has a chipmunk with floats on it ever been built for FS?

Re: Chipmunk on floats
Hi AD
My memory isn't what it was and more often than not, I seem to be wrong
but.. there WAS a Chippie on floats which, if I've not imagined it, was down to our cousins in Canada who will lob floats onto anything they see fit.. including the Rapide
Rick may have done a float conversion for the Chippie (I'm sure I've seen one but again.. don't quote me) but I don't think it was ever on general release. If it was.. I don't have one.

I wonder what the cruise speed of that would be....

I've never seen a Chipmunk on floats but I have seen a squirrel on waterskis.

Well that's certainly...errr..different!
To offer some support to my adoptive brothers (i.e. the Canuckles) when you live in places that have more water than land it makes sense to use transport suited to that environment.

There are very many places up north where the only way to get in there in summer is by air and the only place to land is the local lake or river. There are slightly more options in winter once the whole place turns into a giant ice cube!

Islander #3 (G-AVCN) was fitted with dummy floats but they never proceeded any further
The Chipmunk, being Candadian, is very likely to have been considered

Heh heh... A good reason to get the Captain Sim C-130 in FS9 or FSX (yes, it never flew in RL, but Lockheed considered it and... well... why not:

Re: Chipmunk on floats
Lockheed got as far as testing a C-130 on a sort of float ski using a very large scale model........I suppose it was cheaper than risking a real one
And there was the C-47 floatplane too
