We saw a programme about 3 or 4 weeks back on E4 which was also called Concorde's Last Flight. But that was an hour long with no indepth about the ongoing investigation. Certainly plenty of interviews with those flying on the "last flight". Wonder if the one this week was an extended version... We didn't watch it as I thought we'd only recently seen it. Will have to see if it's on Play-It-Again-Sam-TV.

One annoying thing, and I'll ask here... The one we saw was called "Concorde's Last Flight" and was about Concorde's last passenger flight...

To us here in the home of Concorde, the last flight is the actual proper last flight that she took to Filton a fair while after she took her last pax. She circled the city a few times, did a low pass over the Clifton Suspension Bridge and of the very very last wheels down I have a picture in my living room. A great shot of her with the main gear about two or three feet off the runway at Filton (thanks for that Chaz, a great image).

Yep that day back in 2003 when "Alpha Foxtrot" returned to her birthplace was certainly a memorable one. A day of joy and sadness really, joyful to see the concorde returning to Bristol for good, but sadness knowing that she will never grace the skies again. I remember waiting for the concorde to do her flypast over Bristol, most of the morning it had been wet and dull and then as if by magic just before the concorde was due to fly over the city the sun came out......
A shame to hear that concorde "AF" is closing as a visitor attraction and that the aircraft is being moved into the hangars. It seems that she is being moved for regular maintenance. Neither Airbus or BA are saying if and when the aircraft will appear for public viewing again.. Just wonder if the proposed musem for "AF" to be displayed in will ever get built in this city. *-)

The Americans were interested in SST as recently as the 1990's when they brought a TU-144 back to life for a joint venture with the Russians.

Here's an article:

There is footage of it on YouTube here:

Thanks J0hn

Eddie

The NASA TU-144 was just hiring a suitable test vehicle and not an interest in SST Transport. *-)

Hi Garry,

Yeah I know. The Tu144 was a test bed with a view to developing a second generation SST. Thats what I meant. I know the old Charger was never itself the intended aircraft to develop.

Who would wanna fly on that old crate in the future?!

I don't mean it was.I meant the US are not looking to make an SST as far as I know and the 144 was used as a convinient testbed but not for an airliner of any description but for more general research.

At least that was said at the time but maybe folks are reading too much into it since :dunno:

I don't think there will be another SST as such but any developement in the future would be more sub orbital and if anything that's where NASA would come in.
