SSD drive and a new CPU

Post by tonymadge »

Xmas is coming yuk! and I was thinking of what er indoors can buy me.... If I don't choose it will be something to do with the garden :'(

So I thought that these two would be nice as I already have AM3 motherboard etc
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.40GHz they are down to around £125 now and dropping, clock to 3.8 to 4 ghz on air
( I run the superb little 550 clocked to 3.6 at the moment back on 2 cores but it is getting hot (50 c) despite more fans than a can can dancer in my case..

also this cracker again they are dropping and it would be ideal for the XP o/s

Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive £114

Then again I may well end up with a set of shears :(

tony if your running Win7, or intend to, you would need a SSD with the "Trim" command enabled... This prolongs the life of these drives much more!
