So if you had 767 civilians could of flown on themHot_Charlie wrote:The other advantage being of course that had we got the 767, there's a very good chance you could have flown one of the very airframes we received.jab wrote:Nah Glad its an A330 there good aircraft prefer them over the 767 ( which I belive was also a replacement looked at??) which I been in and not on a A330jonesey2k wrote:How about A330GBFOTT. Dont think OZ are getting 767 just Five Airbus A330MRTT (KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transports) — to replace the dated Boeing 707s in aerial refueling and strategic transport roles entering service in 2010.

Don't quite see where you're coming from there? What I was eluding to is that had the FSTA contract been awarded to the rival consortium, yet another RAF tanker/transport fleet would be based around a fleet of well used ex-civilian airframes - in this case ex-BA 767s, as opposed to the brand new A330s being delivered.jab wrote: So if you had 767 civilians could of flown on them

How about this for a scam - we all "enlist" for the day, then pay to leave the RAF after we've had our jolly on the VC10? I'm sure the lawyers and insurers would have a screaming fit but if we're enlisted, we're not civvies!Tonks wrote: Sorry Ant1981... we cannot fly civilians on the ac any more!

Alternatively, we arrange to be held hostage and you have to put on a rescue flight?
I'm trying to think outside the box here...

Made me laugh too I've always thought the 'military' have thought outside the box but I was never able to imagine what sort of box it was they were thinking of

Yes mate.. and I still consider myself very lucky indeed.. privileged is a better word. An excellent day leaving memories I will always cherish The most difficult thing of all is looking back at the shots and seeing they're from 2005 Where the heck have those 5 years gone

Yeh, I still have that copy of 'PC Pilot' with you Dave, and the other Dave flying the sim. How did they let you up in the real thing - I thought insurance, etc would be a problem? And was it a local (training) flight?
