I think I've seen over 100kb/sec once from the Pond. It's mostly a lot less than that and the lower the number, the larger the file, the more likely it will fail. As a comparison, I always get around 232kb/sec from here which is the top end of what I could expect from 2mb broadband. I think we all need to move to the U.S. :lol:

Thank you Leif you are all being most helpful. My problems apart it would seem the exercise is useful as apparently they are not uncommon. Having eventually downloaded the Auster 5 files the icons came up in a file but when I clicked on properties I found them to be empty, I had only downloaded icons. I wondered if my security system was blocking the download but when I checked it told me that there were no security threats. The mysteries of modern science!
