Little things.. and big things

Post by DaveB »

Hi Guy's..

Been out in the SGA/Erick Cantu Airbus A300B4-2 today and was chuffed to bits when I saw the little lady behind me landing at Palma..
Image

Hacked off with default AI and less than impressive statics, I've been steadily replacing both with a combination of my own AI and WOAI. These models give no more of a hit than statics do (probably less) and look a whole lot better. The 737 is Aardvark and the BUA 1-11 is DM's

Here's BMNC climbing out on her way back to Gatwick..

If anyone fancies doing 2 VA paints for the SGA 300.. we could do with BMZL and BMZK.. both Orion :worried:

Model: SGA
Paint: Tony Madge
Scenery: Aerosoft (available for FS9 and FSX in one pack)

Don't forget Laker :)

Nice AI

I've seen a set up that was all Ricks Viscounts and Herald as well as DM's pre AI One-Eleven :excited:

Hello Mate :hello:

If ZL and ZK were Laker too.. then I'll drop a line to my dear friend Sir Tony Madge as that DD paint was one of 3 paints he did as a UK pack.. the other two being Laker and Monarch. I've only seen Orion shots of those two on Airliners so presumed! Typical.. we only have 3 pax 300's and only a third of the fleet with a paint.. eg, 1

On the AI front.. yes, there are some very impressive setups out there.. many using Rick and DM's models. Quite a few of my Heralds and Viscounts are Ricks as I have the correct paints and likewise, my 1-11's, VC10's and Tridents are all DM's models  I'd love to bin my CalClassic Vanguard (no offence fellas) but Rick's Vanguard (in numbers) hit's my system a bit. I can always tell when EM, EP, EG and ES are at home at EMids as I get a st-st-stutter as I approach the western end of the airport :( The Aardvark and TFS/DJC models used by WOAI are blinding as are the paints that go with them but the downside is that they're all pretty modern. Actually.. it was Palma that got me started on this revamp. I saw the screenies and thought what a great airport it looked but all of the traffic shown turned out to be AI and it's boring as hell going to somewhere like that and finding the place desolate. I found the same at Aerosoft Oporto and Faro though Lisbon is suitably populated. SO.. I went looking for and found complete AI packs for TAP, Iberia, Spanair, Air Europa and found myself unable to stop  Landing at Madrid now is a nightmare!

Another reason I decided to bin some of the statics (even the better ones that come with UK2000 Xtreme) is that they often take up 'live' slots. While chasing a Thomas Cook flight at Stansted.. I only had that one aircraft there and the Stansted statics loaded and blow me down if the Thomas Cook AI model didn't choose a stand that one of the few statics was at. Had the airport been full to the brim, then ok but no.. with the statics loaded.. the airport is (I guess) only at 10% of it's capacity. It's like the old scenario.. find a huge car park and find a lonely spot to park.. come back and find the car park still empty but for one car that's parked next to you!

Anyway.. I couldn't think of a way to stop the rude behaviour at Stansted so I got rid of the statics and put AI there instead. The end result is a lot more pleasing and there's no 'shunting' in the dead of night

Hi Mate :hello:

The Laker were G-BIMA,B,C :)

I mentioned then as Laker seems to get forgotten as an A.300 operator. They ordered about ten but I think those three were the only ones delivered and were not in service long before the collapse..I didn't realise some had been done :)

Trivia :worried:
The first aircraft was named 'Metro' and on delivery Airbus presented Sir Freddie with a brand new Austin Metro with publicity shots showing the car being handed over in front of the nose of G-BIMA showing the aircraft name clearly.

G-BMZL enetred Orion service initially in basic Lufthansa livery with Orion titles :)

Dave B,

Have you tried the Vanguard found in this pack on Flightsim? http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SE ... UKAIRC.ZIP.

Says its for 2002 but I'm sure I've had it in 2004 - can't remember what the frames were like tho, sorry :dunno:

Hi Nige :hello:

Yes.. and much cheaper than the payware CLS model (which has/had an annoying feature of automatically going to Mach from IAS at around FL240) We only have 5 airframes in total.. the 3 pax mentioned above.. BMZL, ZK and NC plus 2 freighters CEXC and CEXI. I only ever intended flying the freighters so painted CEXC and CEXI for the CLS model and the PK left me so frustrated, I went outside and threw bricks at myself  Tony Madge has painted one of the freighters for the SGA model plus the UK pack (Dan Air - BMNC featured above) plus Monarch and Laker for 2 registrations we don't have. So.. if you go with the payware model, I can give you 2 freighter paints and if you go with the freeware model, you can fly a freighter and a pax.. or any of the others if you don't mind flying with the wrong paint/reg which I now DO (mind that is)

Garry..
Indeed mate.. I thought I'd misunderstood what you were saying as I only knew of IMA, B and C. He ordered 10 more but we all have moments like that

Tks for that Colin.. I'll take a look ;)
EDIT.. Just had a look Colin and guess what.. that Vanguard is Ricks  You wouldn't guess that from the blurb though 8)

Ah dear..
Yes.. you may have done those paints mate but I never got them :shhh:

There are aspects of the CLS FD I don't like so have tried the SGA model. As one would expect.. if you've paid for something, you'd like to be able to use it but hey.. any port in a storm ;)

Erick released his code and PK's for all his WIP models (available at Allnodes) but I don't know if the A300 was ever considered finished. *-) If it is.. no one liked Orion enough to paint it in any shape or form :wall: Whatever.. I'll try and find the (a) PK for it and see what pops up. Tks for the offer anyway ;)
