Patience is not one of my merits, and who can guarantee CS will have these sales again? So.. Here is my new gain. No regrets.

I can understand patience not being a virtue but CS have these sales at least twice a year. Suppose it depends on how bad you want something and how willing you are to pay/wait for it

Looks like CS aren't going to have a sale this year

Looks like my money will be staying in my pocket a little while longer then.As far as the 707 has been released recently and we expect 2 more major releases this year so we are not going to run the 9.99 sale this year.

Looks like not. One more proof I was right and bought the 707 right after release - having much fun with it!DaveG wrote:Looks like CS aren't going to have a sale this year
Re: FSX 707-300 at Captain Sim
Just so happened to be having a look at that today, it does look fantastic.
They have a free demo version up now. I am downloading to have a proper look
http://www.captainsim.com/products/x707/demo.html
Please note, the Free Demo has the following limitations:
• No Extensive Systems Programming (all systems inop, engines OFF)
• No Custom Lighting Control
• Hundreds of Custom Animations inop
• No Flight Model (flight controls locked in the Demo)
• No Custom system sounds and crew voice messages
• No Exclusive visual Effects
• No Authentic Sound Set
• No Weather Radar
• No Repaint Kit
So sounds like it's a non-flyer unlike the C-130 demo, however it's was the statement about "4X means the textures are in four! times higher resolution than Captain Sim regular High resolution textures. " making it sound like it might chug along at a slow FPS purely being on screen (I've been to the CS sales in the past and although fantastic products they do need a lot of resources to run), which I hope this demo will allow me to check out.
Although since I have actually (unbelievable I know) made some ATi catalyst changes with the latest driver downloads and found a superb setting that makes another type of sim (dare I mention it here) look so much better with no loss of FPS, in fact better rates I am keen to know see if the 707 is the plane for me.

Re: FSX 707-300 at Captain Sim
Right scrub that, the skins even look like they are low res, the cockpit is low res, no use whatsoever to check it out as it looks terrible in this cut down version and since you can't do anything with it either it's quite a pointless "demo".
Re: FSX 707-300 at Captain Sim
Scrub that x2
It seems the new ATi catalyst settings I had don't work for FSX. So I have turned up one part (that was low but gave perfect crisp images elsewhere) for FSX and now the 707 skin doesn't look blurry at normal distance, as does the cockpit.
At 68.7 FPS
At 68 FPS
At 34 FPS
Not bad, ( was getting 20FPS in the VC with the view pulled right back to get the most in view).
Now I've got see if the change made any adverse effects to the other sim................

Must say, whatever their other faults, CS do make a good looking simulated aeroplane.
I'll certainly be spending £10 on it at the next sale.

Nope, no 9,99 sale for 707. Although the price is already 20 Euro off.
Re: FSX 707-300 at Captain Sim
LOL... I can wait. It'll be in a sale at some point... Even if I have to wait a couple of years.
