Re: Virtavia Supermarine Scimitar
Thank you DaveB,
I should be most grateful if you would zip those files to me please - at least I will then know this evening whether or not I more or less have my ducks in a row. Everything else with the model works fine so somewhere along the line I have missed a trick.

I just edited your post
You should never put you email in open forum as there are bots that trawl sites looking for emails and that can get you a lot of unwanted spam.

Sometimes I yearn for the days when we didn't have FS or computers so didn't have to worry about them

99 percent of my current stress couldn't have existed 30 years ago

Hi Cheithus..
Save emailing them, I've uploaded them HERE
Double click on the zip file to open it then drag the 7 bmp files to your FSX/Effects/Texture folder. If they start overwriting (which in theory they should as there's no way you should have the fx files without the bmps).. you may as well let them go ahead and overwrite.. you'll be no worse off
These work just fine on my system.. fingers crossed they do for you too

Re: Virtavia Supermarine Scimitar
DaveB, Gary & DaveG,
Having installed the textures sent me the Scimitar is just like the cat's pyjamas. How my textures became so corrupt beats me but once again I am a happy bunny.
I really am most grateful to you all for your tolerance, kindness and assistance in helping to correct the problem I was experiencing. I am sure few would have lasted the course - it is very much appreciated!
Take care,
Yours ever,
Cheithus

Hi Cheithus
Think nothing of it. If you have a problem, we'll always try to help even if as in this case the subject matter was not one of our own models
How did the originals get corrupted? Well.. that's PC's for you

Re: Virtavia Supermarine Scimitar
Well FWIW, I absolutely love it!!!
I haven't checked my hours recently, but I'm willing to bet it is probably close to being my most-flown fast jet... that and Dave G's Hunters (which I love flying MP and AI with). I absolutely adore classic FAA jets and for me this is second only to the Buccaneer, which I eagerly anticipate from Flying Stations...
I fly the Scimitar off Ark Royal all the time. I doubt the flight model is perfect (e.g. no blown flaps, as with the Buccaneer), but I'm willing to live with that until a 3rd party modifies it (anyone??!!). On the catapult it doesn't sit on its tail like it should, with the nose wheel in the air... which SkippyBing managed to crack with the forthcoming Bucc S1 and I'd love to see as an update to the Scimitar also. I believe an American pilot once said of the Scimitar something along the lines of "only the Brits could build such a powerful aircraft and keep it subsonic!"... the flight model certainly reflects this.... oodles of power... goes like a rocket and I love it!
As far as I know it is a fully FSX (bump mapping etc.) and DX10 (VC self-shadowing etc.) native model. TBH I prefer it to Skysim's Sea Vixen, as I feel the model is superior (the Sea Vixen lacks FSX stuff like VC reflective glass, bump mapping etc.) and certainly has a better performance, because the Sea Vixen is an FS9 model and slows my system down.
In short, I'd recommend it for FSX flyers who are big fans of classic FAA jets...
Oh and if anyone wants to go multiplayer flying in Scimitars et al just drop me a line!
