Comet 4c

Post by viking88 »

I ran this beautiful realisation on this computer (windows 7) from an external HDD with no problems. I then reloaded FS9 onto the computers HDD and reloaded the aircraft just as I had before. The Comet flies the same and the panels are the same, but I have lost the internal textures of the flight deck. I have tried opening a previous flight then reloading the a/c and saving it but no difference. Any ideas please?

Hi Viking88 and welcome to the forums ;)

I don't have Win7 so am not quite sure what happens with the install routine (eg.. where Win7 might put things). However, looking through the readme.. there is reference to the Comet VC so I wonder if this will be of help:

Texture Rename Utility for the VC version
-----------------------------------------

This VC version of the Comet model needed the texture files to be renamed.

Any old third party repaints will need their texture names changed to work with this version of the model.

To do this copy the file 'Texture_Rename_VC_Comet.bat' into your repaint's texture folder & then double click the same file to run it.

///////
If you're using the same paints, this may not be the problem but the install routine under Win7 may have something to do with it. Hopefully, a Win7 user will come up with something more concrete for you ;)

As a Win7 64bit user I can tell you there is no difference in Win7 "install routines" compared to earlier MS-operation systems....

If you're running the bat file it might be an idea to right click and chose 'run as administrator', otherwise Win 7 may not let it do anything as part of its attempts to prevent undesirable code being executed.

Thanks for the welcome chaps and the help, tried the routine, but no change - I also note I have lost the internal textures on view pan except dead ahead. Curious.

Steady on with the comments on old sailors DavidB - as a master mariner of some 40 years service (your mileage is a bit low by the way) - else we will have to start refering to 'peelows' and bio-degradeable autopilots!! Did you know that seagulls are the souls of dead sailors? Yup, they eat garbage, make an appalling noise and c**p everwhere.......but they do fly well.
