Re: 'Tearing' in pan mode?
Trev, just visited the site Darren recommended, had my FSX.cfg tweeked to wondrous effect, and I too have downloaded the external frame rate limiter.
Extract the contents of the downloaded External FPS limiter folder to your main FSX directory ( in my case D:\Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X )
Go to that directory and find the file FPS_Limiter_GUI.jar and click thereon.
Search for the FSX executable ( in my case D:\Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\FSX.exe )
Edit the maximum FPS figure, which is 30 by default but has to be changed to 20, according to the web site.
Click on Create Bat.
Now, go and have a look in your main FSX directory again, and you will find a newly created file called fsx.exe.limited.bat. This is now the file you click on to start FSX. You can right click on it to create a shortcut for your desktop in the usual manner.

I think I run external at 30, no problems.
Also right click & choose properties on the bat file to change the icon, navigate to where fsx.exe is and choose the fsx icon, or any other you might want.

Thanks Darren, but I cannot find that bat file, it's not in the FSX folder! I tried editing Colin's but still to no effect...yet!

Re: 'Tearing' in pan mode?
Trev, there shouldn't be a Limiter folder. The contents of the downloaded .RAR file should be put into your main FSX folder as here:

The batch file will always appear in the same folder as the others. Click on FPS_Limiter_GUI.jar to start the process.

Mine's in it's own folder, not in the main FSX one, & it works finePaul K wrote:Trev, there shouldn't be a Limiter folder. The contents of the downloaded .RAR file should be put into your main FSX folder as here:

Dave, you mean the batch file is in its own folder or all the other files too ? I thought the .dll files had to be in the main FSX directory.DaveG wrote:

Re: 'Tearing' in pan mode?
I removed the 'contents' into FSX and it still does not make anything! It made a 'limited' bat onece, but that did not work. I wonder how anyone can make something so clever, that is so difficult to get working...at least by thikies like me!
Going to bed, it'll be better in the morning.

He edited his shortcut file to look in another folder, Dave stop confuddling people
Straight out the box without editing them the files MUST be in the main FSX folder for it to work.
