Opps

TBH, it's been there so long, I can't remember whether I hand edited it, or that's how it was created!

start C:\"Microsoft Flight Simulator X\"FPS_Limiter.exe /r:D3D9 /f:20 /x:OFF /l:OFF "C:\icrosoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe
This is what I have been trying (without joy), which seems to be the nearest to what you guys have. My FSX is in the default position, but the whole root (C/windows/programme files etc) does not appear on any examples I have seen. I still cannot get a .bat file to appear anywhere, but it did onece. I am sure this Windows 7 'knowing best' thing is behind my frustrations.

Hi Trev, :hello:

There's a typo in your second Microsoft Flight Simulator X entry - showing icrosoft Flight Simulator X. Worth a check?

Got your mail and will reply in full when home from work tonight.

Have you disabled UAC Trev? If not try doing that.

You're also missing the "M" off Microsoft in the pathname, but that may just be a typo in your post :dunno: EDIT: beat me to that one Colin

The pathname will need to be the full pathname, including "C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/" etc

TBH, it's best NOT to install FSX in it's default location on a Win7 machine.

Wish I had known that a few days ago!

Err, UAC???? :worried:
I now have the tearing sorted :welldone: , but will also have another go with the FPS limiter too, well spotted! I was a littel too clumsy cutting and pasting. The tearing was caused by the Nvidea control panel saying use as per application in the main panel, but Force off V synch in the programme specific panel

Thanks for all the help, anyway! ;)

UAC is the bit that makes Vista and Win7 ask for your DOB before allowing you to do anything. It can, fortunately, be turned off making Win7 (I won't mention Vista) something like a very good (better) WinXP.. as I understand it ;)

Thanks Dave, I need this as REX is a pain without getting rid of it. I seem to yearn back to the days when you just installed stuff and enjoyed! Still a way to go, but getting there! External FPS now working, thanks Colin!

Trev, click the "start" button, type UAC in the search box. You should get a "User Account Control Settings" box come up. Drag the slider all the way down & click OK.

After much tearing of hair, I found that my FSX poor performance after sorting the tearing of images lay in the fact that one of my two 1 ghz RAM sticks had become disconnected in transit!!!!!   It's looking quite good now!
