Cycling: Spring Colours

Post by speedbird591 »

We're past the Spring equinox. That's the day when time spent on my two seasonal hobbies is roughly equal. As the sun climbs higher I spend more time out on the bike and less on flight simming so my fleet is tucked up in the hangar for essential maintenance - waiting for a rainy day!

Could have done with Colin's hammer last week as I've just blown 1800 squids ordering a new bike. Until it arrives I'll just have to make do with my 'old' one. I did 25 miles off-road today and the Spring colours were lovely so I thought I'd share some pics of them.

Just a suggestion ....

Hi guys. Thanks for the comments. Lots of useless advice there, as well!

Joe. Squids may be slippery creatures and hard to keep hold of, but clams! I invested a lot of money in the bearded variety when I was younger! Whoa - talk about biting your hand off

Jonesey. Yes, I could have bought a big sports bike, but I did all that when I was younger and have now ridden off into the metaphorical sunset! Trail riding gives me easily as much pleasure as my Honda VF750 did without the hassle of running another motor vehicle. I gladly hand the baton over to you youngsters (and no, DaveB, that doesn't include you  ). I want to spend my last few remaining years enjoying the countryside and not in plaster and traction, thanks!

Colin. Ah! I see you have the bike collection syndrome. I'm already thinking of ways to explain to the memsahib why the Kona is still in the garage alongside the Whyte when the new Canyon arrives ... I could either suggest that it isn't any of her business (which is true, but it's probably not a good idea) or I could explain the accepted formula for the optimum number of bikes. Which is n+1 (n = the number of bikes you already have). BTW, don't get too excited about the Whyte - it's not the exorbitant £4k titanium one, it's the merely extravagant steel look-alike! But with British steel and British design it ignores all the fancy oriental bits and has a discreet Union flag on the seat post. Which is about as British as you can get nowadays :S

Cheers me dears

Ian :)
