A wonderful tribute to one of the last Shuttle flights.
In the livingroom of my flat proudly hangs a framed photo of Columbia's first launch as well as an envelope flown aboard Challenger on STS-8. It broke my heart to see the Challenger accident on TV, as well as watching Columbia destroyed as she flew overhead above my (then) house in Texas.
I guess mankinds advancements don't come without some sort of price to be paid. *sigh* Onward to Mars!

Its a good video...but...why do we constantly have to be bombarded with dramatic music, dramatic computer graphics, dramatic camera angles ? Its not just this video, it seems to be prevalent in documentaries in general these days. Yes, we KNOW its impressive; we actually ARE capable of thinking for ourselves. We don't need to be constantly battered with reminders. There is a maxim in creative writing that says ' Show, don't tell' - something they might have adhered to in making this video.
Impressive shuttle, less than stellar film making.

I watched the film all the way through. Very good and only marred by the constant repetition of various shots. Yes watching Challenger and Columbia meet their end was heartbreaking. I think that for any sort of exploration pushing the frontiers of knowledge and science there is a price to pay. How many maritime and aviation pioneers lost their lives. Space exploration has had surprisingly few.
As to the Challenger disaster many people think Reagan was a bit of a buffoon, but I think he made the finest speech of his presidency when that happened.
