Maybe that's why they've been furiously scrapping aircraft and ships...to melt down and make medals

Surely, like the GSM with Suez clasp, should one wish to posess this medal one will have to apply through 'official channels'. If you believe that medals and decorations have no place in your world, then don't apply or if one comes through the post then just put it to one side.
On the other side of the pond our American allies do seem to issue a surfeit of medals, amazing how many rows some of their long serving personnel seem to acquire.
That much maligned man, Machiavelli, civil servant, soldier and diplomat wrote in his book The Prince (That book has been in continuous print since it was first written) and is the second most widely written book in the western world.

Bit ambiguous the wording for the Jubilee Medal - to qualify does one still have to be serving during 2012?

It's not a military medal...It's for other public services too but a very select list.

But maybe those aren't in the occupations or service that work towards the country? Just a thought.

Everyone who has a job in society works toward the country

Well I'm not getting any further into it. I qualify for one and will be proud to receive it. That's my opinion. It goes a little way to making up for all the crap we have to deal with and the continuous lack of support/respect that this society treats my service and most of the others with.
