AI for FSX

Post by paul26may »

I have recently started creating AI for FSX having previously without too many problems done the same in FS2004 with Traffic Tools. Now I am using AIFP and for some reason everything I do gets either duplicated or even triplicated. For instance I created some Dan Air Comet flights to various destinations from Ringway and ended up with an airport full of the said same! Whats going on?

Hi Paul :hello:

I'm not sure exactly what's going on there but the most obvious question (forgive me for asking it) is have you removed the old traffic files? One rule of thumb for FSX is DO NOT mix FSX compiled traffic files with FS9 compiled traffic files. Perhaps you have a mixture of both??

Hello Dave,

Thanks for the quick reply! I am on a new machine that FS2004 has never been anywhere near so that shouldn't be the issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled FSX yesterday and am going to have another go today. I'll let you know how I go on and hopefully starting afresh might get a better result. On Thursday there were more Dan Air Comets at Ringway than they ever had in their entire fleet! :excited:

Hello Mate :)

I didn't mean that it might be an offshoot of an FS9 traffic file, more that you may have previously used an FS9 traffic file in FSX to get some 'real' traffic. I've not tried this but I hear the consequences for FSX can be dire :-O Anyway.. a clean install should do the trick ;)

Dan Air has some good flights in FS9 though it might pay to scrutinise the aircraft.txt file. The ones I use have some oddities so I tried to make the aircraft 'same era' and joined 2 plans (Summer/standard). The end result looks good except 2 flights are duplicated somewhere and I can't see where. Not the end of the world and nice to see 2 Comets in close formation but it's not what I wanted

Hi Paul,

Do you have the FSX SDK installed? If so, you can use "Traffic Toolbox" to find from which traffic file an AI aircraft has been loaded:

Afternoon George,

I'll try that. That's a nice snap by the way. Where did that fuel :welldone: tanker come from?

It's from the UK2000 Newcastle Xtreme airport.

BTW. To display the file names in Traffic Explorer, right-click on the header bar and select "File Path".
