DM BAC1-11 Install Problem
Hi,
I have installed the BAC1-11 following the instructions on the Sticky. I have also tried the alternative method by creating an extra folder in Simobjects and editing the FSX.CFG. The results are the same in both cases. The aircraft looks great and flies great, but on the aircraft menu the titles of the 6 aircraft have been slotted in, in alphabetical order after the AirCreation Trike, and everything that follows has been shunted forward six places. There are no thumbnails for the BAC1-11 and the existing thumbnails have not moved so I have thumbnails of Bell helicopters described as Beechcraft Kings and Boeing 737s described as Bell helicopters etc. My last six Vickers Viscount descriptions have dropped off the end. The correct aircraft is loaded in accordance with the title if you ignore the thumbnails, but I have lost six Viscounts off the end. If I remove the BAC1-11 folders all is back in sync.
I suspect this could be because there are no thumbnails, but I have not read of anyone else having this problem. I tried putting a thumbnail in one of the texture folders but it made no difference. I know how to create the thumbnails, but I need to know the correct place to put them. I would like to add the other classic aircraft, but I need to resolve this first. I am currently dragging the aircraft folder into Simobjects when I want to fly the BA11 and out to the desktop when I want to fly something else.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Axel
Welcome aboard
Can't help you with your problem I'm afraid but can tell you the thumbnails just sit in the texture folder.

Hi Garry,
Many thanks for the reply.
In FSX the thumbnails are simply called thumbnail.jpg, but there is a separate texture folder for each texture so your British Airways thumbnail.jpg goes in the texture.ba folder. I obviously cannot take screen shots and put six files all called thumbnail.jgp in the textures folder so I am at a loss. I am not even sure that missing thumbnails is the problem as in FSX if there is no thumbnail you usually get a greyed out box with a question mark in it above the aircraft title, but all other thumbnails and titles are still in sync.
Hope someone else has the answer.

I had this problem a couple of years back, so you're not the only one
Can't remember exactly the solution at the moment but I'll have a dig around.

By the texture folder I mean the texture folder of the particular paint

Re: DM BAC1-11 Install Problem
I'm 100% sure it's a thumbnail problem.
Best bet for start off, is to put a thumbnail into each 1-11 texture folder.

Hi,
Thanks for the responses, but there is only one texture folder. I have already tried one thumbnail.jpg in the folder, but it did not show up and made no difference.

Re: DM BAC1-11 Install Problem
The very best is to actually download each of the represented liveries from DM's site, and download them as "thumbnail.jpg" in each of their respective texturefolders.
Be aware that the extension MUST be jpg, and that you actually see the whole filenames, so you won't accidentally call the file "thumbnail.jpg.bmp" ....
Inside the selection menu in FSX, be sure to check the "Show all variations" too .....
All above does of course require that the aircraft is indeed installed correctly in regards to panels, models etc. etc. ....

Re: DM BAC1-11 Install Problem
You should have one texture folder for each paint job, named texture.ba, texture.bcal (or similar) etc. Each should have it's own thumbnail.jpgaxelbrora wrote:Hi,

If you've only got one texture folder, then that sounds like your problem.

Many thanks for the help.
Apart from the main texture folder there are Individual textures within the model folders. Thumbnail in each and problem solved.
