Rob Richardson's Venom FB4 at Duxford

Post by Paul K »

Thought I'd fire up FSX for the first time in about a month and try out Rob's terrific Venom FB4 at ACG's wonderful new Duxford scenery.

Outside the hangars and workshops of Historic Flying Ltd..

Cartridge start effect...

Taxying past the Airspace building...

Image

Hold while a PRU Spitfire goes past, part of the extensive A.I. package that ACG provides with the scenery.

Image

A busy day, even though the airshow day option is turned off at the moment...

Image

See the light blue simulator ride over there in the distance, to the right of the tower ? It moves as in real life. Incredible !

Image

The forlorn Herald :(

Moving along ...

Looking back along the flightline. This is all the Venom and Duxford you will ever need in FSX and just shows what fun there is to be had with excellent freeware.

Image

Airborne...what a beauty !

A low pass, and something to give the passengers of the A.I. Classic Wing's Rapide something to think about..

Lovely paintjob, Mr Watkins !

Only one problem with the ACG scenery - it shows 'Mary Alice' in the hangar. Right now, she's in pieces receiving a well deserved restoration. :)

Yes, and interesting that when they moved her out of the AAM, she went out in bits through the fire exit !

Great shots, Paul.
The paint is one of Rob's originals though, not one of my repaints!

cheers, Peter W

I'm not sure there's any other way out of the building. The glass face doesn't exactly fold out of the way.

It is designed to be removable in sections. I think the last time they did so was to put the SR-71 inside - or maybe it was the B-24. However the process costs money that, since government funding cuts, is no longer so readily available.

The Bell UH-1D was just small enough to go through a fire exit without any bother.

Thank you for the excellent shots Paul,
Sorry I'm late to this thread, been busy building a new home for my models.
As a problem seems to have arisen with the Britsim upload mechanism any largish file will not be accepted.
The Venoms being a case in point.
There are a few models in the making and the need to find a home for them is looming.
Peter Watkins has kindly agreed to allow me to host his re-paints.
The following link is the result, not everything is working at the moment and there is still a lot of stuff to go on there but the Venoms can now be downloaded from the new site.
