HS748/780 radio freqs. & ALT display

Hello to all here,
I'm freshly registered on this forum having installed Rick's excellent HS748 & 780. (BTW I used to regularly fly as supernumerary crew in the Andover to Dubai & on the "Bait Shuttle" when I was in the Air Movements Sqn. at RAF at Masirah 1973/4 so have a very nostalgic interest in this a/c type). On my old steam pc I flew both these a/c OK when loaded in FS9. However on my new pc. I'm using (so far) solely FSX. I wonder if anyone can help me with the problem I have:

First flight after installing the 748 yesterday the radios worked OK. However after reverting to a different a/c type then coming back to the 748 in the same flight (I was showing a friend around the flight sim. who had never seen one before), all seven of the radio freq. display windows were blank. I can alter the freq's on the rad buttons and see these effects shown on the FD & HSI needles, so they are still working, although I've no idea what freq I'm on. I've tried all combinations of every rad switches but to no avail

I have tried re-installing the 748, and have just installed the 780 and the 780's radios were blanked out the same from the word go. Also the ALT displays a black/red oblique striped bar where the figures should be. I can revert back to 748/780 from any other a/c with correctly displaying radios but they always show up blank on both these a/c types. There doesn't appear to be any other anomoly within my FSX set up - all other a/c in my hangar work OK. I have A2A's Accufeel installed but have tried with this disabled (just in case...I have no real idea what else to try).

If this is of use my pc runs Win7 HP 64bit, DX11 with everything enabled, & 2 x GTX580 cards.

I would greatly appreciate it if any of you far more knowledgeable people could offer me some help with this.

Welcome aboard

It is best if you go through a default aircraft as that re sets the Sim

With panels like the 748/780 there is much special coding and if you switch between non default aircraft things may not work properly

Yes indeed.. starting with a default aircraft usually clears these anomalies. I wonder if DX11 is the issue?? We have a number of FSX 748/780 users here so hopefully, one of them will be able to come up with something concrete for you

I get this with the 748 in FS2004 if I start the flight in the VC. I just go back to 2d cockpit and everything comes back to life

Would guess that the avionics are switched off
Make sure they are on in the default a/c before going into the 748 (cant remember if the 748 has its own avionics)
Ive had the same problem One of the many anomilies with running fs9 aircraft on fsx
Got a comet vc changing itself to a white colour scheme at the moment

Yes Nigels right you need to go to the 2d panel (Shift 1) to enable the engine start and deicing etc Cant remember if the radio is affected by this workaround

Just tried the model in fsx and you need to switch over to the 2d to activate the avionics then swich back to vc
Best of luck but dont ask about the crash pad textures that disapear when the lights go on

Thanks very much to you all for your very quick response. I'm pleased to say that having selected the 748 from a default a/c, & starting in 2d then going to VC, the radios and ALT are working as they should. This is a work-a-round I'll make sure to remember.

I've just downloaded the HS748 myself and have the same issues you have had Wingco. I was just thinking of posting something here and read your post...............I'm going to go and try this fix too!
