Re: Flying for Real..
I'll have to bring the Cessna round Dave for a flight one day, its a decent sized aircraft and in good condition, think it made one maiden flight! I may wack it on eBay and see if I can £100 for it that should be a fair price. Then again I may get the courage to fly it

Re: Flying for Real..
Blimey TM.. that price makes it incredibly tempting
I still have the problem no suitable runway though.. damn it!
Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council really need to spend some money and make me a nice runway
I'd accept one for the prevailing winds though a 3 runway, traditional A shape would be better
Smashing day today Tony. Why don't you give it a maiden flight!
Do they still have a section of WWII runway at Fradley or is that too far away? It's not that close to me either thinking about it

Re: Flying for Real..
Finished nights this morning and had to stay up for a delvery so I'm in no fit state to fly
not sure about Fradley. Short grass is ok for it and long grass for the controlled crash back to earth

Re: Flying for Real..
Hi TM
I've had a look at Fradley on Google Earth and it's changed a lot since I was last there. Granted, it was many years ago. Dad was trying to teach mom how to drive in the Reliant and Fradley seemed an open enough space to let her loose on. I don't know how but she managed to get off the runway.. the wide bit closest to the A38. He maintains there were field mice in the engine compartment for 3 weeks after
There seems to be a very nice short/narrow section left a little to the west.. 52°42'59.39"N 1°47'2.69"W which is ideally suited to the Cessna. Difficult to see what the condition of it is like but there must be a smooth bit there somewhere
It looks like you could gain access via Gorse Lane and the bit thats left is probably long enough to get a real Cessna down.
The houses to the north of the wide section of runway weren't there last time I went.. they were corn fields!
Shame Halifax's aren't still flying out of there

Yup.. 3 years ago but it shouldn't have deteriorated too much in that time
