There are two possible scenarios for the Rapides mixture.. RICH or WEAK. Furthermore, depending on the operator, this could be cut to one option.. RICH

If I can give 2 examples from documentation I hold, BEA wire-locked the mixture control to RICH as far back as the early 60's leaving the pilot to fly by RPM alone. Coming closer to home, Air Atlantique specify RICH for everything.. there is no mention in their SOP's of WEAK so it's safe to assume that WEAK is not used at all. AA fly using RPM as an measure of speed and fuel consumption.
Somewhere along the line, WEAK has been removed from operation manuals so use it at your peril
