Well naturally, Geoff Duke was also a common topic, but he was G -Ernest -D. Though I'm keen on cryptic crosswords, I failed to connect that rider with Malcolm.
I read part of our family history, handwritten by Mother some years prior to her death, but as yet no reference to the source.
Knowing my ability to get things wrong, despite their mad interest in motorcycling and in particular, Nortons, perhaps they based it on Malcolm Campbell?
It's also possible that their hero never won anything, so didn't make the headlines.
