Yes indeed.. the wife's words ring loud in my ears.. Ok, you can have the Champ as long as this isn't the start of something bigger :worried:

I know what you mean about that 4th channel. I've tried using the rudder on the SCub and I guess, if you wanted to do something completely off the wall, then rudder input may help but I fly it just fine with the ailerons. If I had a default SCub.. I'd HAVE to use the rudder as it doesn't come with ailerons but as I don't.. I won't  I think you get a much cleaner turn with ailerons if that makes sense :) You can't skid the arse end of the aircraft around like you can with a rudder but it's swings and roundabouts ;)

BTW, I forgot to add earlier that I'd looked on ebay for Wildcat bits and there are only few. I looked again just and the items come to about 4 or 5 and most are from the U.S.. engine mounts and the like 8) Wheelspin have them in shadow stock and when you include postage, they're pretty much the cheapest you can get so I'll order 'one' from there along with some new wing elastics for the SCub ;)

I've still not managed to get the spinner cone fitted to the P51. The amount of force needed to get it to clip over the lip on the back plate is inordinate to what should be required. I don't believe the first one I fitted (the one that came with the model.. the back plate was sh@gged) clipped on dead easy. OK, it also flew off after 15 or 20 seconds so I guess there's method in their madness. The spinner cone I have left is the replacement I got and the back plate is part of the same pack but it just won't go on. Try not to break one mate. Cheap they are.. impossible to fit they also are 8) I may just tack it on with some grab glue from that pack I bought. It won't look quite so naff then

While looking through ebay for Wildcat bits, I noticed a-n-other Parkzone ZX10 txer.. completely different to the one I have. Darned odd because the one I have is the one they advertise with the model :dunno: It appears to be 4ch having a stick control for throttle rather than that crap slider. One things for sure, I know where I can get another ZX10 cheap. One was going for as little as £3.50 plus postage

Hi all :hello:
Used to be able to do some nice knife edge passes with the wildcat Rudder had to be set with quite a large deflection to have any authority also good was doing flat turns that is turning in circles using oposite airerons to keep the plane from banking over Both manouvers would not be undertaked with anything made from balsa
Looking forward to a striker f27q batteries and reciever ordered :excited:

Ah Dale.. you're a bad man and I 100% commend you to the house

The forecast for the beginning of the week is foul to say the least so I really don't know when I'll be up next. However.. I'll experiment with the rudder on the SCub as I see exactly where you're coming from. ;)

And why not! I bet it doesn't weigh a great deal does it though hitting the deck at the wrong angle and speed will still destroy it. Excellent stuff. I love the sound of those ducted fans too :tunes:

That bloody spinner annoyed me so much, I couldn't let it go and finally got it fitted last night  There's a lip on the inside of the spinner cone and a ridge in the spinner back plate. It's 'keyed' in 2 places and should lock into place. However, I couldn't get it that far so this is what I did. I gently chamferred the lip around the inside of the cone with a modelling knife then made an angled cutout in the ridge on the back plate. After a couple of goes, I was able to ease the cone into the ridge on the back plate 'screw fashion' where it's now snapped tight. I doubt I could get it off even it I wanted to now  What a palarva 8)

Now then.. if you can get your little camera attached to the Mig.. that would make one seriously mental video clip :guinn:

Good to hear you got that spinner sorted out Dave.

I'll be picking your brains on the subject when the same thing happens to me.

Yep, the Mig is incredibly light. However, it has some clever device built in that assists in windy weather.

Something called AS3X. :dunno:

You can hear the servos twitch and judder constantly correcting themselves.

I thought it was interference at first. Til I read the instructions.

And your right. It does make a lovely noise. :tunes:

Been on early shift today. Ideal conditions here. Minimal winds and no rain.

Took the Mustang up for 5 lipo's worth of flying. :) :)

First chance I had today to have a proper feel for the aircraft and get used to the handling.

I keep meaning to put the camera on it. I'll get round to it over the weekend.

The forecast is looking better for next week. Fingers crossed I can get the hours up! :agree:

Hello Mate :hello:

That's grand  Weather not suitable here today I'm afraid. Not long got back from doing my PCV Theory, Hazard Perception and Driver CPC exams.. all of which I've passed  Still.. I won't start for ANOTHER month but at least I know where I am now for the first time since I left the pub in March. :) I should be quite proficient with all of my hangar by then! I only have 2 big LiPo's though but that should be enough for the time being as I have 2 chargers

Question.. do you ever use the 4th channel (rudder) on your Wildcat? I'm still looking for cheap options to get her flying without having to take the rxer out of the SCub. It will mean using the shitty ZX10 mind you :worried:

Hi Dave,

Congrats on the exams. :welldone:

Nice to hear some good news these days. I'm very pleased for you. ;)

No in all honestly I never use the rudder. Its there for me as a luxury. Nice to have if I want to perform some fancy moves.

I'd be happy without it. :agree:

I fancied taking the Mig out as well but I will only fly that when the grass is completely dry.

Don't fancy getting any moisture in the fan or the little motors on the wings, especially as they are completely exposed to the elements. :((
