In the mountains

Post by cjw50310 »

I recently spent a week at Rocky Mountain National Park, which is one of my favorite holiday spots. Really wanted to take one of the bikes along, but common sense prevailed, since I was travelling with family.

Here are a few photos - if I had the means, I could easily take up residence there...

This one was an accident, quite chuffed how it turned out.

This fellow wasn't too far off the road, and didn't seem particularly bothered about much, aside from watching...

his heard quite a ways below.

Didn't realize at first I got the fly in there, I think it adds a certain je ne sais quoi.

Sitting on a rock with my mother, as she catches her breath. Altitude was a touch over 12,200 feet.

The view across the road from my hotel porch.

Spied this swimming in the river in front of the hotel.

Thanks for looking,

What a wonderful place, Chris. And you get to stay in a hotel! How civilised :)

Thanks for posting those pics, that's definitely somewhere I'd like to visit.

Ian :)

Thanks for the kind words. The park we visited is in Colorado, it's a two or three hour drive from Denver International. 12 hours from my place depending on the number of stops, how closely one believes in the posted speed limit, and how many times one gets stuck in a contraflow.

I'm looking forward to the big trip this year up to Glacier National Park in Montana, along the border with Canada. Not really looking forward to the drive as Google maps indicate it's a 22 hour trip each way.
