P3D airborne

Post by speedbird591 »

My first proper flight in my brave new world! Not one for doing things by halves, I've got the new laptop, P3D, REX and FTX scenery all at the same time. I don't know what I'm doing yet but I've got confident enough to take a pleasure flight and fire off a few screenies :worried:

So, what you're seeing is - P3D v1.4 + REX Esssential. The airport is FTX Stewart CZST airstrip on the border of British Columbia and Alaska's Misty Fjords National Park. The greater scenery area is FTX Pacific Fjords (by Holger Sandmann). The aircraft is Carenado's Centurion for P3D.

Good grief man, those are just super shots. Wonderful stuff !

Ian, is the new laptop all that you hoped for, with regards to P3D ? It certainly looks that way, but is it running smoothly ?

Well, mate - it was your bloody idea! Image

The laptop is perfect. I've got everything maxed and ticked at the moment in P3D to test it. At Stewart airport (above) I am seeing a minimum of 25 FPS and an average of 35. Yes, very smooth. I owe you a beer for persuading me to go P3D/FTX - it's definitely the way forward for me!

Ian, very good news indeed. I think our main concern originally was.. laptop ?/FSX ?/ oh puh-lease ! My idea maybe, but folks like Ben and Rob Richardson are the P3D authorities round here. :)

By the way, I posted on the other thread something about a frame rate limiter, but if you have Nvidia graphics ( which I seem to remember you do ) then Nvidia Inspector is the next thing to consider. Eric Bakker at the Aerosoft forums reminded me that Inspector has its own frame rate limiter, and its other important FSX settings apply equally to P3D.

Sorry Ian, but now that you have actually done some flying, you must now spend rest of your free time adding to, tweeking and re-configuring the sim.

Nooooooooooh..........

The plan was to get a good solid setup and just ... fly! Please don't make me tweak. I couldn't stand it Image

In that case, you need Microsoft's Flight.

Gorgeous shots Ian...I hope you will keep posting progress as I think you may be posting a path for me to follow. I know nothing about P3D yet...Does it have ATC or AI Traffic yet?

Hi Peter,

Its almost the same as FSX in that respect, but there are some aspects of the UI which aren't particularly consumer friendly. For example there is no "home screen" where you can create a flight before starting into the SIM. This means that when you start P3D you go straight into the default flight where you then need to change your A/C location / weather etc.

TBH what you see in Ian screen shots is no different to what you'll see in FSX currently with the same addons, the only benefit is that LM are developing P3D :)

I'm a complete n00b when it comes to pre par 3d.
Can I use this with VFR X Scenery, VFR London and any FSX aircraft?
