Hi Chaps,

here is the same aircraft in FSX, Clear weather and as near as I could get the same position. There's a marked difference. In FSX I have Aircraft cast shadows on itself and aircraft casts shadows on the ground etc all ticked...

I see clearly what you mean mate. Not sure what's going on with P3D but considering that model is older than god's dog.. it doesn't look at all bad in FSX ;)

Yup.. I just don't get those shots. In FSX, the sky.. well all the scenery is darker than in P3D yet the aircraft is nicely lit. In P3D.. all the scenery is lighter but the aircraft is darker. Those little tinkers at LM have obviously done something mate *-)

Indeed they have. To be fair, my FSX is actually running really well under Win8, better than before so I'm happily flying in it for FSA at the moment. P3D is definitely smoother, but at the moment there is not a lot in it, and until someone has a go at redoing the models (Vanguard / Viscount / VC10 etc) using the newer SDK's (either FSX or P3D) I'll have to have FSX by the looks of it. :cpu:

In my opinion FSX is the 'must have' add-on for Prepar3d

Which reminds me - I read on a forum recently that Microsoft is no longer manufacturing FSX. So when supplies run out that'll be it. Of course, it may not be true but it might be worth picking up an insurance copy of FSX Gold if you don't exactly know where yours is. They're only just over a tenner at Amazon at the moment!

Ian :)
