Re: Poll
Re: Poll
I only used FSX until P3D was released and presently I use both.
I am having a few issues with P3D so FSX is my favoured sim at the moment.
I used FS9 recently to get to grips with the QW Avro RJ until it was released for FSX.

Re: Poll
I have to say that the poll doesn't really give me the option of selecting my set-up. Most of my sim flying is in FS9 although I do have FSX for a few specific aircraft that won't run on the older version. I actually bought FSX for one aircraft (the Flying Stations Buccaneer) although I have added some other FSX only aircraft since. However, with a few exceptions, the quality and variety of freeware available for FSX isn't even close to FS9, so that version isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
I don't see any advantage of moving to P3D, it doesn't offer much more than FSX IMHO. Perhaps, if some day someone produces a P3D only model that I really want, I might have to splash out, but I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Re: Poll
Personally, I think this is an interesting poll.
Without analysing it to the nth degree, we will still get an idea of who's using what, but until the total number of votes gets up around the 2000 mark, we're only seeing what a handful of members are doing.
So, "silent majority" how about putting finger to mouse and voting?
Maybe you're "too busy"?

Re: Poll
Well I actually have both 9 and X - but 9 hasn't been installed for about 5 years or more.
I bought FSX first and have never had any issues worth mentioning (yes, I've always had high-spec PCs put together myself specifically for flight simming) but bought FS9 just to fly the Capt Sim Hercules. When the FSX update was released FS9 got permanently uninstalled.
To me, that model is the single best add-on there has ever been for Flight Simulator.
Oh, while I had FS9 I also could play Cargo Pilot - until I was fortunate enough to be invited on the Air Hauler development team.
For me there is no comparison between the two, they are so different.

Re: Poll
I mainly use FS9, but got FSX and (Shh not a word to SWMBO) spent too much tarting up the UK and Oz so that I was not too out of touch with others in the VA I phart about with.
But I keep drifting back to FS9, which is not a vanilla installation, so the comparison is slightly unfair in relation to the level of scenery graphics.
However as I mostly potter around in multi-engine transports, the preponderance of VCs in X gets on my t*ts when I'm trying to twiddle sundry knobs and engine settings without flying into the scenery any more frequently than I manage on my own. I believe Peter settled the VC/2D panel discussion more eloquently than I could relative to non-GA aircraft, and from a far greater level of relevant competence.
So for now X mainly gets used to check that flight routes in 9 can be flown in X - which just gives me the impression of being more of a game.
Interesting comment about the Herc in X, as the panel of the 9 version doesn't always play well with Vista or W7.
Drifting way off topic, if anyone saw the Brownie flag being waved at the last night of the Proms it was at the end of my daughter's arm.
