very nice Garry! Its funny that you posted it, as yesterday morning (08:15) I was driving down the A1 towards Leeds when I saw a skyvan which had just deposited a number of parachutists! I Haven't seen that before, and what was even more peculiar was that in the distance behind the Skyvan (maybe 10 miles further south) there was a Hercules which appeared to have taken off from an airfield perpendicular to the A1 RW33 at RAF Dishforth? :dunno:

TBH, never a common sight in the UK, there have been the odd one flying arround over the years

Only two are current on the UK register, G-BEOL and G-PIGY both belonging to Invicta Aviation of Whitstable.

Of course that's in Kent, but realistically they could be anywhere where there's a job for them and I guess it was on of those you saw. *-)

Hi Garry,

It could have been. I wasn't close enough to make out a reg etc, buut definitely a Skyvan. Don't think I've seen one in the air in... maybe 25 years! :-O :)

Top rate paint

The last Skyvan I saw was booting folk out of the back above Weston on the Green. To my mind, they were probably glad to get out

From 1992-2000, G-BKMD was based in the London area before going off to the States. I saw it at Stapleford. Many TV programmes , some still shown featuring skydiving see that machine make an appearance.

Dont the Para Regiment or similar use one instead of the C-130 as they are tied up with operational work?
