DM VC-10
I remember reading somewhere that David Maltbys FS Models handle like the real thing. Is this true.

Vulcan XH558 DONT Let Her Die She Wants To Fly.

We have a number of VC10 Captains on the forum, some of whom have flown the model and reckon its pretty close to the mark, but as one of them says in their signature "Its not Real" so within the confines of FS it pretty close.

Re: DM VC-10
The only minor disappointment is the lack of VC. Otherwise a superb addition to the sim. If only we could twist DM's arm.

Who you talking about Ben
Yeah, DMs VC10 is pretty good... both DM and DB came and flew the real sim at BZZ after learning on their sim and they flew it very well. I am sure if you twist their arms you may convince them to tell you about it!

Re: DM VC-10
Are there also any real-life-pilot testimonials on DM's 1-11 available?
I'd be very interested to read...
Many thanks in advance & Cheers,
Nick

Not sure about that Nick. PeterM also flew the Super 1-11's before his Trident days and I'm sure he has it in his hangar. I don't think he ever wrote a tutorial for it like the Trident though.

Re: DM VC-10
Dave, I'd be glad to get a quick comment on how close it is to reality - in terms of handling, performance and so on...
Just thought that there might be something comparable...
All the best,
Nick

Not quite, Garry, I was an Operations Controller, The aeroplanes were miine, I only lent them to the crews.
However, I did spend many hours on the jumpseat and the first time I loaded up DM's One-Eleven ( a few years ago now) it was like going back in time and it flies just like I remember from those jumpseat rides. It truly is a marvellous model and a great aeroplane.
If it had been stretched to the 500 series sooner, it may have taken some of the DC-9-30 market. and when the 800 srs was on the drawing board, an MD-80 sized aircraft with high bypass ratio turbofan on the back end, they needed BA as the launch customer. Ufortunanely, that's when BA ordered their 737-200's and that was the end of that.
There was a brief light at the end of the tunnel with Tay re-engining. ROMBAC were going to re-open the production line with new Tay-powered airframes with glass cockpits, however BAe would not release the design authority as it would have blown holes in their 146 sales.

Sorry mate...misunderstood
Still...you know thew odd bit of two about them as machines on the job, something enthusiasts with there love of a subject are not always impartial to fact.
It's a great pity the Trident was scaled down as that meant the end of the Medway, an engine that would have given the One-Eleven all the stretch possibility it needed from the very beginning...but sadly it was not to be
