WWII Airfields

Post by speedbird591 »

WWII airfields in FS aren't my scene and I'm afraid I don't know anything about what is out there. But I found this link on the ORBX forum to a very nice collection of historic and modern airports.

Apologies if this is a well-know site but better to post it to be on the safe side.

I've been to that site before, but for some reason never really looked into what was available. I am very surprised to see RAF East Wretham - I've driven past it many times on the way from Watton to Thetford. These days its a very neat little Army camp that accommodates troops using the adjacent Stanford training area, but as an RAF station, its history is virtually unknown. What a pleasure to find this, a suitable base for my Wellington and Hampden. :)

WWII era airfields is a continuing discussion on the ORBX forums.

http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/ ... ra-fields/ (registered members I think)

The owner and author of the site to which I linked, Ian P, is taking part. He says that unfortunately his airfields won't work with FTX and that they are comparatively poor quality. But he has promised to try hard to update them so that they will be compatible.

But most interestingly, one of the ORBX admin has come in with a mysterious post saying 'watch this space'! Which is being taken as that FTX may be working on at least one WWII era airfield. :dunno:

Ian :)
