EDDIE!!!!!!!!!!

How the hell do you program a model name into the DX6i? Through trial and error, I've setup what I want to setup as far as the model goes but I can't for the life of me suss out how you get characters up. I found a tutorial online for the DX6i, DX7 and DX8 saying you select a letter by using the increase or decrease buttons. WHAT increase or decrease buttons 8) I've also read that the manual makes a lot more sense when you know how to use the transmitter.. aint that helpful

A couple more questions for ya..
1. Do you always bind twice to set failsafe positions?
2. Do you use the range check function on the txer to check the model or do it the traditional way and walk 30 paces?

I'm beginning to like the old FMS radio setup more and more.. turn it on and go

EDIT: Forget the Model Name bit mate.. I found another DX6i manual online that described how to do it perfectly. That's the ASW28 sorted.. now to the rest  I've not bound it for a second time nor have I done a range check yet. Will get around to the range check tomorrow then try the ASW on the Orange receiver I have. If it works, I'll move on to the others ;)

Hello Mate :hello:

Yes.. it's been highlighted here before, perhaps even on this thread. I remember commenting that I wish they'd have shown the landing rather than the botchup we saw. Beautiful model

Eddie..

Re may last.. I realised tonight that you probably don't have to go through the 'full whack' of stuff with your models.. range check.. re-binding e t c as they're BNF and already set up +/- the odd trim change.

One thing though.. I think I remembered you talking about the 'Timer' on your DX6i which could be setup to go off at intervals *-) My manual mentions setting it up to go of at 'A' time but not additonal times. Can you program more than one time in yours.. for a given model that is?

I have both the ASW and Bixler setup now. Just need an opportunity to try them :)

Hiya Dave, :hello:

Apologies for delay. Not had a chance to catch up and read the posts til now.

Congrats on the DX6i mate. It really is, a belting bit of kit. :)

The timer function is fully adjustable to suit each model.

For example I had 4 mins on the Mig15 and 7 mins for the P51.

As you turn the wheel to cycle through the models in memory, you can fully custom all the settings as you see fit.

If you make any adjustments it will only be for that model. ;)

Also like you mentioned, all the PZ models I have are BNF so are already set up.

The only thing I've done is on the Stryker, where I've reduced the low rates even more whilst I become competent with it.

Hello Mate :hello:

No need to apologise.. I know you were on nights ;) Hope they were 'trouble free' too

Right.. I see. That bit I'd sorted already. Must have caught the wrong end of the stick at some point as I thought you could set each model up with more than one time. Doesn't matter really.. I'll just have to reset the Bixlers time to suit the weather. In 'warm' weather (not quite sure what warm weather is now!).. I get around 20mins flying time but as the temp dropped before Christmas, this dropped to 15. When it was very cold, I couldn't stand any more than 10  It's a simple thing to change ;)

The ASW passed the range test with the Orange, short range/Park Flyer rxer (had the missus hold it in the front garden while I trotted off 30 paces across the common  ) but I'm still unsure of what 'short range/Park Flyer' actually equates to in terms of range so I may at some point swap it for one of the AR500's. I've put an AR500 in the Bixler leaving me another AR500 and an AR600 to go into either the Mustang and SCub. This will leave the Wildcat without a receiver but should push come to shove.. I still have the FMS radio I can use :)

Didn't realise the Mig only had a 4min flying time :-O I bet it's a fast 4mins too

Was hoping to get out this morning but the wife said 'no flying today, it's wet, windy and horrible outside' when she came to bed and looking outside, she didn't overstate how horrible it is :|

Oh.. while I remember.. did you set the Mustang up on the DX6i for dual rates as it is on the RTF? If so, can you tell me what your DR settings are please mate :)

The Mustang/Wildcat are already set up already mate. On full rates.

I did initally have the Wildcat on 65-70% Low Rates whilst I got to grips with it. *-)

There are guidelines in the manuals on recommended settings for Low Rates.

Your might already be aware mate, but the manuals for all the PZ models are available free in PDF format from their website.

If I mail order anything I'll usually download the manual and have a read before it arrives. :)

Hello Mate :hello:

Yes.. I tend to 'try' the manual before I buy too  Looking in the Mustang manual, it says full deflection (High rate) is 9.6mm and reduced rates are 6.4mm. Now.. I tried a bit of maths (not my strong point) and came to a figure of 67.3%.. that is, if 100% = 9.6mm, 6.4mm is 67.3%. I've not trusted my maths enough to try it yet but before I plonk one of the AR's into it.. I'll flash it up for one last time on 27mhz and check the deflection myself at both settings. I'll probably use 67% as a base figure for it and see what happens at the ailerons ;)

Bloody foul here again today.. pishing down and high winds. Not flown for probably 3 weeks or more now :(

Managed to fly for the first time in ages this morning and as I got over the common.. it started to drizzle 8) Still.. I had a few mins with the ASW28 and it, the Orange rxer and the DX6i all came back in one piece. A bit nervous on how far I should let the ASW go but I think it'll be fine on the Orange ;)

It was a bit too bumpy our there really.. seemed ok at groundlevel but above tree height.. it was being knocked around too much for comfort so that, coupled with the drizzle meant only one battery through it (and not a full one either). Anyway.. summer is on the way
