So there I was just coming to the end of a flight in the HS748 (did away with the gear warning when I re-installed it as it got on me nerves) and started to flare at the same time reducing power to idle......then found that the aircraft kept sinking when it should have touched down!!......applied full throttle but too late.....the engines stopped once the props hit the runway but instead of the aircraft shuddering up and down it just slid quite serenely along the runway then stopped still (had realism to detect crash).....opened the doors so the passengers could get out then replayed it for external viewing!!
Now is this due in part to FTX as in FSX Default Scenery it would just shudder up and down.
PS. I do not make a habit of this, just happened that I had to pause the flight before landing then when I came back unpaused to continue the approach.........Oooops forgot!!!!
Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
Certainly a new one on me, as I've never experienced a crash when flying in FSX.
Just kidding! Agreed, it's odd that you slid rather than stopped immediately. Never tried opening the doors after embarrassing myself, I just slink off.
My guess is the contact points were set up correctly in the aircraft.cfg file including the 'scrape' points which allow you to belly land an aircraft without triggering a fatal crash. They are nice when they are there but unfortunately not many modellers/designers bother to set them up correctly (or even add them at all).
