Many of us have our testing times; floods, wildfires, you name it.
Have been wondering how the UK members are faring in the current storms.
Heard that at least two young men have died.
Any news, chaps?
Condolences to the families of those 2 who died of course.. it won't seem very amusing to them
As Ben said.. he missed it up in his neck of the woods and it pretty much missed the Midlands too. The odd tree down south of the region but nothing as bad as projected.
I look out of the window now and there's not a cloud in the sky. A bit blowy but it IS October for goodness sake
Fence gone (but not forgotten). No trains at all on Monday - had to work from home instead; very sad! Had a brief(ish) power cut and trains still not back to normal today. Oh the joys of an autumn storm (there are some). Five dead in the UK and more on the continent; as Dave said, not at all good for those folks or there families.
Has anyone seen the video of that guy surfing the 90m wave in Portugal - that guy has some balls but they're probably up around his chin about now.
We had one of our regular buses go over - you may have seen it on the news - a bit stupid really to be running a double decker give the wind speeds forecast. Mind you that was the last bus service they ran for a few hours! And that was some gust to pick the bus up, carry it over a ditch and dump it in the field but that is a particularly exposed stretch of road.
The other three were: two in a gas explosion caused by a falling tree in Hounslow and a lady off the road near Thetford.
I hope things are getting back to normal in the South. From what I have heard here, most of the power is back on and that has to be a blessing since we can loose power in a heavy rain because so many of the power lines are above ground.
