During the past two days I have found that whenever I attempt to download a file I am presented with a notice inviting me to pay $30 for full membership with the header that the simultaneous download has exceeded its limit of some fantastic number per second!!
Has any other forum member experienced this notice?
Yes, I have checked Avsim and Simviation for the required files but neither site library seems to hold the files I am looking for.

Hi mate,
Its working fine. Flightsim.com has always prompted you to upgrade to pay membership if you try and download more than two files simultaneously or if you have downloaded lots of files in 24hrs. If neither of the above are true in your case it sounds like something on your PC is opening multiple session to the site, possibly an AV program or download manager? No problems with IE11 here. Which browser are you using?

Re: fltsim.com no longer free?
Thanks for your pointers.
I have downloaded some files from flightsim recently. However it would appear that a developer has released a mesh scenery which is the largest file that the latter website has ever hosted and the demand for that mesh has been such that they have been somewhat overcome. Hence the problem.
I do not have a file manager on my system and I have not attempted any multiple downloads. I can access avsim, simviation and sim-outhouse without any problems.

I went for First Class membership some time back.
You do get faster downloads, and as far as I'm concerned, though "free" is always welcome, I'm happy to keep the wheels lubricated with a few dollars.
Yes, there has been a slowing over the past couple of days on account of that big scenery offer.
This is minor compared to the other issues I'm having.

Re: fltsim.com no longer free?
This problem has been present in the FlightSim website since they last updated the website. It's happened to me at least 6 times over the last 6 months, and is not a direct result of the recent large file problems. The last time it happened, last week, I had not even downloaded any files that day and had only just booted the PC up.hobby wrote:During the past two days I have found that whenever I attempt to download a file I am presented with a notice inviting me to pay $30 for full membership with the header that the simultaneous download has exceeded its limit of some fantastic number per second!!

The answer is to log out and log back in ... which resets your cookie (the source of the problem), but unfortunately the problems caused by the download load may still prevent you from getting your files ...

Re: fltsim.com no longer free?
I was on there yesterday at it happens (well.. this morning really) and it seemed ok although like Mike, I've had 1st Class membership for years. My gripe is with their sister site.. FSPilotshop which is woefully slow.. far too slow for a commercial site (eg.. a shop)
It took over 2hrs to download the ND Mil24 from there a couple of days ago (closer to 2.5hrs) which ambled down at a pedestrian 39kbps reaching a high of 45kbps toward the end. Thank goodness I didn't attempt to download REX Essentials + with Overdrive
