The trees using building textures appears to be a bug in P3D2 itself John, so won't necessarily be down to the packages you're using. It's also been reported in Orbx scenery.

After several unsuccessful attempts to charge in and do a mass migration to P3D2, I am holding fire for now with a basic install. You have to be even more careful with the contents of the Autogen folder than you did in FSX. I've had the edits Horizon made crashing P3D2 as far afield as New Zealand when another addon was expecting certain autogen which now had an altered description and the new version of NL2000 decided to make a patchwork quilt of Atlantis, The Palm... in Dubai! Investigations showed it had inserted its own version of default.xml.

Fortunately I back up the autogen descriptions every time an edit is made and could roll back (which fixed the issues in both cases), but there does seem to be something subtly different about those files in P3D2. Proceed with caution for now, I think.

If you're looking for an outstanding scenery to fly in while you're waiting for other addons to be adapted, FlyTampa's amazing Dubai has just been updated with improved P3D2 compatibility and a native installer. I'm certainly having fun using it as my new test ground for proving flights!

Thanks for your input, Adrian. I've spent the entire day working on nothing but P3Dv2 and various settings/configs and compatibility workarounds.

I've just finished installing a number of scenery packages that cover the whole of the Western part of the globe - but as the publisher has effectively banned their use in P3D, I won't be shouting about it. Just hope it replaces all that problematic default stuff and leaves me with something nice to look at.

I wonder how long it will take LM to fix this. Seems weird they didn't come across it in testing, as it's so widespread. Maybe they did. I remember during testing for an FSX product that I had a very irritating bug that occurred several times during each session, but as none of the other half-dozen testers had mentioned it, I was told basically "tough luck" and it wasn't even looked at, despite me having it from after a certain beta version release, for every following release though the RCs and retail, and mentioning it many times.

After release, it turned out to be a common issue, and it remains to this day, where no further patches will be forthcoming. Thanks, pal - what was I there for in the first place?

Extremely frustrating - especially considering the massive amount of hours I put into testing before and after release. Of course, people then tend to get vocal about what the testers were up to whilst this bug was around...

The problem was caused by the RevX developers changing the default.xml file in the Autogen folder. Although the original default.xml is backed up in the installation process (this backup is called Default.RXBack), the RevX replacement file appears to ignore the fact you might have other scenery installed other then the default, thereby preventing that scenery's proper operation. In my Autogen folder the original default.xml file was 17,190kb, whilst the RevX replacement was just 7,413kb - it's pretty obvious by those sizes that something previously required is no longer there to do it's job. I have received very useful assistance from Earth Simulations which has enabled me to fully get my Shawbury Fields and Scilly Isles back again and also even be able to run RevX.

If you are a genuine registered user of Earth Simulations products and have similar problems after installing RevX, then I recommend you contacting Darren and Vikki at ES via their support system.

Having recently done a fresh install of FSX on my Win7 pc, I can reliably inform you that ES change the default.xml too so blaming the RevX developers for doing the same is a bit rich. Still.. you have it running and that's the important thing

Chaps, have you noticed the sea at night in P3D2 is like a mirror, its virtually impossible to tell what way up you are as the stars reflect on the mirror and the bloody seagulls are like something out of the birds!

Its very odd Dave, I'm not overly convinced by the sea in P3D2, its not very often you'll get a ship or anything else reflected in the waters around blighty. While you can stop objects reflecting, you cant seem to stop clouds or stars reflecting, or get rid of those dam birds

Just done a quick trip and it is strange to say the least. Whilst the reflected moon is fine, cannot remember ever seeing star reflections from the sea at night.
