Fairey Fulmar FS9

Post by Molyned »

Hi folks -
I'm delighted to announce that, throwing caution to the winds, I've just published the Fairey Fulmar in the Britsim library in the 'military aircraft' section. Thanks to all my collaborators and the beta testers for all their input. :)
Although I've tagged it for FS9 I'm reliably informed that it performs satisfactorily in FSX especially if the suggestions in the notes are carried out.
The aircraft has also been submitted to FlightSim.com but it takes a couple of days for them to publish new stuff.
Cheers

Thanks for your work DaveM,
I'd rather d/l from Britsim; it's reassuring to see that familiar artwork on my screen again.
Really happy that the team has overcome that nasty hacking.

EDIT: Whilst the general loading of data at Britsim is not exactly lightning speed as a rule, I just d/l this solid looking machine at around 500Kb/sec. It was finished as I leaned back to wait!

Err.. :worried:

I did try a quick trap but have trouble seeing out despite making the seat higher with space and shift. I landed but continued

Must go and find the earlier Vic which is the other side of Scotland somewhere *-)

Well Dave, you don't have to use space - shift - I've built a 'seat height' adjuster into the cockpit - find the up/down pair of arrows just to the right of the gunsight. 8)
Cheers

Ah.. ok mate. Does this work in FSX too? I know the usual 'eyepoint' code from FS9 doesn't work in the new pretender. I'll have a look for it anyway ;) Only gave scant regard to the readme ref FSX glass (as you can tell) so will have a proper read ;)

A couple of tips for you with the Fulmar chaps.
Rumbled this whilst beta testing it for Dave.

Fly a curving approach onto a carrier and a curve with gentle sideslip onto a runway.
The view of your intended landing spot is much better.

To hold 65kts onto a carrier requires full flap and plenty of use of the throttle otherwise
it sinks like a lead balloon. This is entirely correct for this particular a/c.It was noted for it's
very high rate of sink with full flap and power at idle.

For a runway/grass landing I found holding 75-80kts with less flap to be a bit more
of a nicer approach. As I say,fly a curving approach to line up and then sideslip down
to the threshold worked well.

Prop torque is nice and subdued, not at all like a Spit I-II with a similar power output, but with
only just over 1000 gee-gee's under the bonnet you'll find that take-off acceleration is slow.

Airshow displays are nice with it,all the usual warbird manouvers can be flown,BUT,even with
the 1300 'oss Merlin, you really do have to think about what you're going to do and how to do it
quite carefully, the Fulmar is a big heavy lass with not a lot of poke.
You could see him thinking "Bleedin'pilots, don't know nuffin. All glammer" He's probably right.
