Mosquito Squadron...

Post by petermcleland »

I enjoyed watching this full length 1969 film today, starring David McCallum as a Mosquito pilot in WW2...He is still working well at this time for his twelfth year in NCIS as Dr. Mallard (Ducky):)

Can't tell you how many times I've seen it Peter.. got it on DVD too  Interesting that although much of the story has changed, it's based on a real mission :)

Well I could see some resemblance to the Amiens prison wall breaking mission Dave...But the Barnes Wallis bouncing bombs into a rabbit hole was, I suspect, made up. :)

I just watched the film. Good one. What were the two twin-engine transports seen at the end of the movie?

The other Mosquito film I liked was "633 Squadron." I think that was the title. It was about Mosquitos bombing a German heavy water factory in Norway.

I downloaded and installed CBFS' Avro Anson. Very nice flying sim. I added the two ADFs from Jens' Hermes. Just an old-fashioned boy.

Thanks to Peter's link I found a 1954 film called "Conflict of Wings" which I watched today: http://youtu.be/US74bAu4wTM

It stars John Gregson and Muriel Pavlow and quite a few Vampires and Meteors. There's a special guest appearance by the new Supermarine Swift. Well before the terms Eco-warrior and NIMBY were first used it's about a rural Norfolk community trying to stop the RAF using a local bird sanctuary as a firing range.
