Alabeo Sale

Post by Paul K »

Alabeo don't have a very high profile, but are known for quality models. The Staggerwing has sold well from what I can see on the various forums, though its not an aircraft that appeals to me.

The WACO YMF5, a fully IFR-equiped modern reproduction of a 1930s biplane is interesting, however. I've never seen an open cockpit with that level of avionics.

Yes.. and the YMF5 is a 3 seater too :-O

I had a look through these recently and I'm not sure if they're 'me' or not *-) I snapped up their R66 Turbine a few weeks ago which is nice :)

Disappointingly.. I visited Nemeth today and found they had a sale last week that ended on 23rd. :wall: There's only one of theirs I want now but I'm not paying full whack for it :(

Dave, look at it this way; Christmas is an expensive time for everybody, and no doubt you've forked out heavily too. At $9.98, the YMF5 is saving you a lot of money. You know you want this aircraft, so spend more in order to save. Simple economics, that. :agree:

As with the R66 Turbine, the YMF-5 is beautifully modelled. It's a joy to look at from every angle. Flight characteristics are a little surprising in that I'd have thought it would have had a tad more poke.. aero's take some thought.. but it flies beautifully. Following current trends.. no PK is included. Instead, you get a blank texture (as shown above). I don't subscribe to this at all.. it'd cost nothing to include a layered PK of the necessary maps for those with an artistic bint but as I said.. it seems the current trend from a number of developers including big names like Carenado. Ah well :cpu:

Used my remaining JF points so it cost a few pence over £4. A jolly good buy at that price ;)

Must admit I've been very tempted by that Waco for a while now. The other one of theirs would be the Tomahawk (not that into modern stuff but as it's the only aircraft I've flown in real life so far, it's needed for the hangar) but that's one of the few not discounted in this sale! A bit more mulling over I think as I've already bought far too many addons recently.

Found an unofficial PK for the YMF at Avsim and a lovely paint by Jan Kees Blom over at OZx ;)

Yes.. I looked at the Tomahawk and while it's not expensive, it wasn't as cheap as the YMF either  Three or four paints for it at OZx too :cpu:
