They are default buildings but home grown runway beacons.

Incorrect position of airport on NW of Barra's N peninsula , think N is up .

Position of correct place for airport . North is to the 4 o'clock posit Think there are 2 shadows ? of where previous addons for the airport have been .

The default Barra is miles out of position, which is what you have found.

Hi George :hello:
So what scenery is your Barra in? Certainly not default FSX, and whilst it's quite good, nothing like another I've seen:
There's a great rendition of it on you tube, looks very much like the Google photos & satellite.

Back to Dave Farrow:
Hi Dave :hello:
Sounds like you are using FS2004, right?
Where did you download your "adopted grandson's" work, please?
I can see how he could have made the error, as default FSX slaps a triangle of marked runways smack in the middle of that neck of land (nasty little Hobbitses).
It MAY be possible to relocate with Instant Scenery, if the textures and details are up to scratch, otherwise "we" might have to bend our fingers around a new version. :)

EDIT: Sorry, now I see we're on P2, he's got the roof colour wrong according to photos, still happy to dig into this further, even if I finish up with Easter Egg all over my face.

Not sure where that version on You-tube is from but this is what I'm using at the moment which is at least in the right place!

It is Horizon photo-scenery.

DaveF..

I've just had a look on Allnodes.. your little friend has a v2 of Barra and the readme promises a v3 to come :) From the jpg, it looks a lot better than v1.. especially as he's used a Google Earth ground tile. No mention of him being 12yo this time. Maybe he's 13 now *-)

Hi all,

First a big thanks to all involved in the Heron 1 project. Looks great and I can retire my BEA Rapide from the Barra run now!

Of course the present Barra terminal (1978) wasn't there in the days of the Heron but have a look at this,

http://ssa.nls.uk/film/1655?search_term ... _fuzzy=yes

Bit on Barra airport at 2:99 and the old terminal at 3:06. There was no control tower. If you search Barra in the NLS Scottish Screen Archive there's some more bits and pieces of the old airport and the Heron.

All the best

Bill
