Hi Brian,

Nice to see that Video, those cars Stirling was driving is my era, back in the 1960's i was an apprentice at a Ford garage in Kent [UK] and Stirling used to visit my boss who used to race Ford production cars so i saw him and a few other racing drivers of that time,

Different i know Brian but us lads used to stand outside our garage after work when the Monte Carlo Rally was on and not having a motorway bypassing the town like now the cars all came past the garage on their way down to Dover to catch the ferry to France, this used to be the first highlight of the Motor Sporting Calender, nowadays it hardly gets a mention on the tele! Sorry i'm remermissing in my old age ;)

Those were the days!!

Thanks for posting,

Roger.

I used to go to the Grand Prix races in that era...Particularly the Nurburgring German Grand Prix from before Stirling was racing for Mercedes until he joined them as the number two driver to Fangio. Then later I watched him win the British GP at Aintree in a Vanwall (I think it was the first time a British Driver had won a GP in a British car for 35 years!). I still think that Fangio was the greatest racing driver of all time and there are some nice shots of him in that video adjusting his goggles.

These days I watch it on TV and look forward to the beginning of the season in March with the NEW Formula One. I am a fan of Lewis Hamilton and hope to see him do better this year :)
