Airliner magazine - BOAC special

Post by TSR2 »

Just noticed in Sainsburys tonight that there is a BOAC special. Among the pictures was a lovely BOAC liveried Viscount. Haven't seen that one before. :)

It seems it was actually Tony Madge who repainted it - at all nodes here -

I had a quick browse at my local library (the magazine rack in my local store). That's when I realised I didn't have enough money to buy it

Ro.. I'm sure I've got a version by GarryR too. Not on the right pc to check at the mo. Whatever.. if there's one out there from TM.. that'll fit the bill ;)

Bloody heck thats BOAC repaint takes me back :)
I used to buy every Airliner world mag but got fed up with articles about in flight meals and other page filling stuff, so only buy on rare occasions, might buy this one :) I have many many years of Airliner World complete set up to a year ago from issue one sitting in boxes somewhere! Must sell them on one day if anyone wants them that is..

I missed a chance to look at a copy of this magazine yesterday, so was looking at their website earlier. It seems that now everybody has a tablet (???) there are endless digital versions of almost any magazine you might want - at a price of course.

By any chance, has anyone here bought a digital version of this or any other flying related magazine, and, if so, how does it compare to the good old-fashioned paper version ?

I did do a BOAC paint on two unreleased models...one fullsim and one AI model.

I'm surprised Ben didn't have the AI one

Ro, I have downloaded samples and they seem very good even though they say samples are not full definition.
I have just subscribed to Air-Britain news and they are very good.

The benefits are ,
Sometimes earlier than the printed version.
Some are cheaper than the printed copy.
Always available wherever you are (if you have your tablet/phone with you).
All the usual tablet pinch and expand option.
Some have additional interactive content.
Don't have to store them once read. SWMBO will like that one!

The Cons
The tactile feel of flicking through a magazine.
The nice smell of a newly printed magazine.

Try a free sample to see whether you like it or not.
