VoxATC X v6 issues

Post by J0hn »

Hi Guys

I thought there was a long thread about this somewhere here, but the search engine brings up nothing.

I own VoxATC X v1.63, which I've used without issue for years in FSX, in Vista HP64 and Win 7 H64. After my recent hardware failures, I'm reinstalling everything, but I had problems with VoxATC X - it won't work. First it was installation issues, but I managed to get rid of everything VoxATC related in the usual (i.e. thorough) way and it then installed, seemingly okay. The indexer ran and I was able to set the config.

However, when I tried to register it, I accidentally put in the wrong code first (I have them all in a 'secret' list so I don't have to drag the DVD boxes out) which got rejected. I then put in the correct one, but the module crashed. Since then, regardless of what I do, including thoroughly cleaning it out and then trying again, I can't get the prog to work, or even properly install.

I went to the VoxATC website and saw they were giving a £20 discount to owners of earlier versions, to upgrade to the last one, v6. So I bought it - and guess what? Yup - won't work.

It seems to install okay, but when I try to do anything with it - even register - it keeps asking for a disc, saying the required application isn't installed, or crashing.

I've been searching for a solution for some time - spent all yesterday evening trying to sort it. There is an unofficial support forum on AVSIM - but as you know, AVSIM considers me persona-non-grata (must be my aftershave, as I've only ever posted there once...) and keeps saying my profile doesn't exist, so I can't post there.

Anyone have any similar issues and know of a solution?

Okay - it appears to be sorted now. Turns out there were a couple of licence and file recognition entries buried deep in the registry. Once found and deleted, the programme installed just fine and so far, things are going okay.

Have to get totally cheesed off at AVSIM again, though - as the support forum is on there, I thought I might as well create a new profile (it won't even let me view the forum to find the info on there - unforgivable in such a scenario) so I could find out how to get hold of the latest UK enhancement, or whether I can just use the original one (or none at all).

So I registered, all went well, activated via the e-mail sent and was finally presented with the log-in screen when all was completed and guess what? Yup - refused entry. Apparently, no such user exists.

What a bunch of useless amateurs they are. That has always been my opinion of them, but I have been pretty polite about it up to now, whilst voicing my frustration. AVSIM - you are a bunch of useless good-for-nothings who more often than not, don't know what you're talking about! Besides not being able to organise a happy hour in a brewery. As much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.

There you go ;)

Sorry for keeping this thread all to myself :wasntme: but I just wanted to add that the VoxATC dev got in touch with me today - so a quick response, worth mentioning.

I bet he was chuffed when I told him he'd been scratching his head for nothing!
