"Britain on Film" - "End of Empire"

Post by sketchy74 »

All,

I am sure many of you have probably seen this, or seen it when it was originally shown.

However, just in case you have not I watched a great program on the BBC iPlayer last night called "Britain on Film - End of Empire". It is a collection of reels from the "Look at Life" documentaries. In addition to some great colour footage of Ghana, Hong Kong, Pakistan, India, Acension Island etc it also has some great scenes of Aden with some Sea Vixens and in Sarawak with Junglie Wessex's working with the Royals and the Gurkhas.

Just a heads up incase anyone wanted to see it, definitely worth putting on with a cuppa / Tiger Beer.... The choice is yours..

Cheers,

Fraser

Hi Fraser. For some reason I missed that particular programme in what has been an excellent series. It was very evocative and makes you realise how much Britain has changed since.I remember posting about this series some time ago on here and it triggered a some responses from the late Ian (Speedbird591) bless him. I do miss his presence on here.EricT

Hi Gents,

Thanks Fraser, i watched that film last nite and it struck me that not much has changed in the last 50 years in some of those countries,

Cheers,

Roger.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
