It was the same with Capt Sim Weapon for FSX - you could blow up anything at all.
I don't think I'll be having this, though. I have a distinct dislike of VRS and I get to blow up stuff that fights back in my classic British combat aircraft in Strike Fighters 2.

hmm, all I'd want is a simple gun, no radar, no arm switches, pippers, etc
I'll try with just that first section of GunTest.xml, see if that'll work in a model without any fancy display.

TBH, anyone who wants to do this sort of thing should probably get a purpose built combat sim. In a combat situation, I find that the scenery detail is not top priority.

Well I managed to get a gun working, so that's good, it will knock out AI objects.
Regarding combat sims, yes for a full warfare situation, defintely better off, but if you just want to play around with some military systems in a much better (depending on your install) scenery, then I prefer to use FSX and have that optional capability.
One big advantage for me is the ability to call out an aircraft carrier in a multiplayer environment and everyone sees the same carrier in the same location moving the same way and speed, all other methods I've tried end up with the carriers diverging in each players session.

It doesn't offer a tenth of the features of TacPack such as the ability to spawn carriers, A2A refuelling aircraft or SAMs that fire back, but it is considerably cheaper.

Dave, I posted something similar over at SimOuthouse, but I was wondering if you'd also considered using the weapons in P3Dv2 (admittedly with a Pro Plus or Pro Plus Developer license... but with a view that hopefully LM will release a consumer-grade version in the future, even if via Microsoft again)? I like TacPac, but I like Prepar3D even more...!

no plans to support P3d Pro Plus at this time. I don't think there are many average users who can afford the $2300 price tag, and I'm not paying out $20 a month for the dev license for the one or two users who may use my stuff in it. If there ever comes a time when the cost is reduced and opened up to the average consumer, then I may reconsider, but I think it's more likely that TacPack will make the transition to P3d first.

I sure hope this comes to pass, TacPack in P3Dv2 would be great. Also having older US weapons (A and B model Sidewinders, Bullpup) and older UK weapons (Firestreak, Red Top, Aden canon), with appropriate delivery methods, would be the icing on the cake! thats due to v1 licencing, but now the v2 is more flexable the outlook is bright
