Smuggling-HD...

Post by petermcleland »

This one runs for under 11 minutes...It was a lot of fun to fly but I made a Sow's Ear of the landing!
This Clandestine Sortie takes place in the Aleutian Islands.

This video is full HD and should be viewed with the Quality clicked up to 1080p and the Full Screen icon at bottom right corner clicked.

Thanks for looking :)

Liked watching that. I think you ought to redo it in the C-46 you've got there. Make it even more interesting.

Chris, I tried my first Clandestine Cargo flight in the C46...However, that was a mistake because I discovered when I reached the destination that the strip was very narrow and deep in the trees. I had three goes at getting in but the wingspan was too wide and I hit trees on the first two crashes and then when I did manage to land it without crashing there was absolutely no way I could turn the aeroplane round to get to the parking without coming to a stop against a tree! So I now stick to the Maule for all cargo and passenger flights. I use the Icon A5 or the RV-6A for Aerocaches or 100$ Hamburgers and for High Altitude Aerocaches I use the Mustang.

Understandable. One of the things I commented on to Microsoft during the Beta was that the mission preview didn't give much information on the departure and destination for stuff like that. I remember doing one of the flights and thinking that the Maule was the biggest thing you could get into the airport because of obstructions which would be nice to know beforehand. There was also a flight I did that was into an airport that has one way in and out due to terrain and there was no warnings (which the real world charts are plastered with them) and it was something I thought Microsoft should include as well, but I think the plans to add more detail went away when initial release didn't go well. I've ended up deleting Flight some time ago my self so I can't still play around with it, but it was sad to see a program that actually had decent promise to get cancelled so quickly and unceremoniously.

Yes, I agree with your comments...I have my iPad on the pull out tray in front of me and I always call up the destination in the Map app...This gives me its position in Alaska or Hawaii and with that I can then goto Map in Flight, find the Airport, click on it and thus get the runway headings and lengths etc so that I at least know what to expect as I get near and can plan an approach...The Flight program does seem to be good at selecting the runway most into wind for the landing (I always use the "Low and Threatening" weather as I like the realistic clouds and this means I always have 14 to 20 knots of wind). I fly every day in FLIGHT and have nearly all the Aerocaches now but watch each day for one I don't have...I'm up to 305 now. Since I like to fly low and down in the scenery, I regard the actual flying in FLIGHT as the best of any flight simulator that I have used. I also like the fact that I can start it and be flying in a few minutes!
