Riga Zoo...Rare & Endangered Species Spotted

Post by Garry Russell »

During a recent visit to Latvia, on a visit to the city zoo...climbing out from Skulte

Not seen a real DC 9 for about 15 years and TBH don't often see the MD8/90/717 variants very often for that matter.

160046 McDonnell Douglas C-9B Skytrain II (DC 9-32CF)...US Marines...you can speculate all you want as to why it should have been there at this point in history :worried:

That is a truly endangered species. They're slated to be replaced with the C-40A at some point, but going in/out of Latvia, he's probably either on a diplomatic support mission for someone (like Sec. of State Kerry who's been in the area lately or one of the US Ambassadors) or they're doing a Medivac from somewhere and used Riga as a tech stop.

I checked up Chris, and as far as I can tell, the last time I saw a DC 9 as such was British Midland around 1996.

It was the sound that caught my attention.

This one is one of only two
