Re: Two Saved by Light Aircraft Parachute
It felt odd that after years of getting into Vigilants and Vikings (and the odd Tutor) and strapping on a chute when getting into the Cessna, not saying it wasn't worth it at all though. I just feel that the number of times one of these systems could have saved someone should outway the costs.

The Cirrus seems to have a quite appalling accident record . I have yet to see any explanation for this, but I suspect that its so-called fail safe qualities attract a proportion of people who fly beyond their capabilities and/or just do not bother with the proper precautions which should precede every flight .

Bit like why in away I am against cycle helmets.
Kids put them on and sometime the padded clothing then do stupid stunts we would have never dared do because they feel with the gear on they are imortal.

It may well save the pilot's life, but pity some poor sod where it lands!
An aircraft should always be glided down: proper airmanship.

Unless of course, like the second link, you've lost a wing
