I bought the Scimitar when it came out and was disappointed with it then.. particularly it's high speed stall characteristics
I thought I might be able to retrieve something from the ashes that was the Dauphin and looked at the PK today. What a complete waste of space. What you get are no more than PSD copies of the main maps.. exactly that.. just a single layer. Who at Virtavia considers this to be a paint kit because I certainly don't
I did go through their portfolio again last night but considered any further purchases akin to throwing money down the drain.
I don't know whether its in the sale, but their F-105 Thunderchief isn't half bad. There's a mod available for the FM, and some good repaints, including 'Alice's Joy' ( Jack Broughton's aircraft - one of my aviation heroes ). You'll need a welding mask to protect your retinas from the night instrument panel textures, but other than that, it's very nice and one that's due to go into my P3Dv2.2 very shortly.
I had the F-105 but wasn't too sure about it. I tried it a couple of times, but as I haven't had it installed for ages and can't remember what it was like except for not being convinced, I can't say I'd recommend it myself. Probably was the FM, then.
I just went to the Pilot Shop to buy the Javelin, but was so unimpressed by them adding on just under two quid for a "download activation" that I left it, feeling rather bitter.
For better or worse, I just bought the AH64A and am toying with the idea of the AH64D. Please could someone tell me if there are any significant differences in the flight characteristics between these two models, as I note there are quite a lot of repaints and updates for the A model but very little for the D. That also begs the question of whether an A repaint will "fit" the D model.
I've had the 'A' since its release and didn't really want it because we fly the 'D' in the UK. Unfortunately, Alpha didn't make the 'D' until sometime later I've toyed with the idea of getting the 'D' in this sale but having got the Area51 model in another sale just a few weeks ago.. I'm not struck on spending another tenner for the Alpha/Virtavia version even though I don't care much for Area51's rendition which is heavier on frames than it should be and has 'very' iffy paints.
To be honest.. I can't see there being any difference in FD's between the A and D from Alpha.. the D being (basically) an A fitted with that big old radar on top of the rotor. This is a simplification of course but as far as FD's go.. I can't see the performance of one being vastly different from the other. Had I made the models, I'd have used the same FD on both
Can't guarantee this is what Alpha did mind you as I don't have their D model.

Just been to Flightsim Store - their price remained at £7.43 and they didn't add an "activation charge", so I bought it from them!
I got the Dauphin and B29 from FSPS and didn't pay any activation fee. You often see a few pence difference between what FSPS quote and what PayPal charge but other than that.. I've never seen any activation charge with any of their downloads (and I have a few) Are you sure you didn't click on the buy now link without removing the backup disc option
I'm not aware of an activation fee being charged by FSPS. They do however charge a re-activation fee if for any reason you need to (re)download a file when the original link has expired. This applies when, for example, a developer issues an update to a product you have bought from FSPS. It's for this reason that I refuse to buy anything else through FSPS.
Well I've bought several products from them and it was the first time this came up for me, too.
At first, it went up to about 10 or 12 pounds, but I noticed it said that was for the download and a CD - so I changed it to download only and clicked 'next' and on the next page it had added this download activation charge. I was surprised, but given how companies seem to look for any excuse to add charges for everything they can these days, I simply assumed that was what was going on.
Anyway - never mind, I've got it now - just installed it to P3D and about to test it, once I've sorted the CTD I've been having since the 2.2 update.
Oh yes, I also downloaded all of the repaints from our friendly neighbourhood artist
Okay - just to see, I went back to try again and see what would happen.
It added the charge automatically again:
However, this time I clicked on "Edit" and got this screen up:
and was able to remove it. On returning to the checkout, the charge was gone. So looks like they are now just trying to catch out the unwary. Notice also how it says £7.42 in the first one and £7.54 in the second!
