Last Waddington airshow?

Post by J0hn »

Just heard that the show for next year is cancelled due to runway repairs, but the BBC are now saying this year's may be the last ever. :-O

They are saying that you can't get in by paying on the day - which is what I was intending to do. Now they are saying that you will only get in with a ticket purchased in advance - but the event is this weekend - so it sounds like yet another typical British Balls-Up on the organisational front.

I usually buy in advance, but this year I didn't know if I would be well enough to go, so I decided to pay at the gate. If you buy in advance and then can't go, it's a lot of cash down the drain.

Sod 'em. :(

I don't know what to say JD though if this helps.. Fairford did similar some years ago for RIAT.. no 'pay on the gate'.. ticket holders only. It's not been the last Fairford :)

Thanks, Dave.

I suspected the "last airshow" bit might have been the reporter being a bit sensationalist and it seems this was the case.

This evening they interviewed a spokesman and the XH558 pilot and both were saying that future airshows at Wadders would be even bigger than they are now.

Have to admit, I was still tempted to zoom over to Morrisons to see if they had any tickets left, but it's Boston Bike Night tonight and town will be chocka.
