I also remember that weekend. On the Saturday we were driving back to Nottingham from a holiday in Torquay and decided to do a slight detour via Fairford on the off chance of seeing Concorde 02 flying.Luckily we did see her fly accompanied by a Canberra chase plane.I presume that Brian Trubshaw would have been in command.
Having got home I decided to stay up to watch the moon landing.I'm so glad that I did .What a weekend! EricT
Now at the age where I know I like girls but can't remember why!
I vividly remeber that weekend because I wnet to Richmond for a meeting and to meet Gwen, my girlfriend from South Carolina. We both had been selected to lead Orientation for the incoming freshmen. We ended up watching the moon landing on a black and white telly in the boy's dorm at VCU. There was dead silence until we heard " Houston, The Eagle has landed" then loud cheers. What a thrilling moment, forever burned in my memory. Although I suppose it was somewhat bittersweet. As a kid in England, I had always dreamed of being the first man on the moon - wrong country and born too late!
